I use the classic controller, and yes they are hard to find. They are not discontinued...
I do see there are some available on the Gaming Store site: http://www.gamingstore.co.za/prodlist.php?cid=WII_003&pid=&viewall=1
This store is very good, I have bought from them before.

Other than the classic control you can try using your Mario Kart Wheel, I found that it helps getting to the "B" button.

I have only two gamecube controllers and the time we had a 3 way brawl I used the wiimote and nun-chuck combination. Not perfect, put highly playble. But yes, as Tenshi said, make a plan to use your gamecube remotes or order one from playasia, the new white one, they have a long cord.

Not sure if they still have though...

Load up Brawl
Open up Nintendo Wifi (Or something similar, i forgot the name)
Then Go to Friend Roster
Your code will be displayed at the top.

Brawl is usually played on Wednesdays
Check this post for times
Just double check in case it changes...

Exchange Your codes Here

Hope you have a decent connection, if you don't it's going to lag

When you take your Wii on-line, you have the option of allowing Nintendo to receive data regarding your playing habits.

The following is the recently released information for Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

The above means:

  • total playtime recorded is 100 278 406 hours (or 6 016 704 360 minutes)
  • 1 364 951 people have submitted their data
  • the average playtime per person is 73 hours and 28 minutes (or 4 408 minutes)

Now I knew this game was popular, but those numbers made me go WOW!

Yeah, the Nintendo Channel records everything, if you opt for that it is.  Here is the scary fact I discovered the other day. I've played 132 hours in Brawl... but the Internet Channel OWNS everything - 350 hours.  What surprised me even more is that I added more time to Brawl that Mario Kart, which clocked in at 120 hours.

Satoru Iwata interviews Masahiro Sakurai on the development of Super Smash Bros. Brawl for Wii.  Both men were of course once employees of HAL Laboratary and involved with the creation of the original Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 64.

Quote
Introduction

Hello, Everyone. My name is Satoru Iwata, President of Nintendo Co., Ltd. Beginning today, I would like to deliver an interview that explains the vision and the development process behind the creation of Super Smash Bros. Brawl. But before we begin, I would like to offer an apology.

With the completion of the game falling behind schedule, we were unable to keep our promised release date, despite our greatest efforts in attempting to release this game on time. I would like to extend my most sincere apology to all of our customers that are anticipating the title’s release, and also to our retailers.

I have asked Mr. Nagata from "Hobo Nikkan Itoi Shinbun" (a webpage hosted by famed copywriter Shigesato Itoi), who is a fan of Smash Bros. himself, to take on the role as the editor for this Iwata Asks interview. The last time he helped us was with the Iwata Asks series before the Wii launch, but I feel like I have asked the perfect candidate to convey the appeal of Smash Bros. I hope you enjoy this interview.

Now if only they would give us a glimpse at Project Sora.
