Big difference between the Component (5 connector='good') and Composite (3 connector='bad') cables. Worth the price. I have not seen the RGB/Scart cable/s in action. I have seen some combo deals at CNA where they sell some games bundled with the cables (both Scart and component, one type of cable per game). Unfortunately there were no prices and I was not in the mood to find out.

Only buy the legitimate Nintendo-brand Wii Component cables.  (And they don't go for R70.)

I have some third-party cables I wouldn't mind giving away for free, but they'll only make you want to go out and buy the legitimate ones.

It does not have to be a Nintendo branded product, a quality generic cable will do the same job in terms of picture quality. Dont fork out more cash unnecessarily.

Then your cables are faulty. I have generic ones and they work perfect. Everybody else's generic cables also work fine. Yours is truly the first that I've heard not being the same.

I'm not saying buy the cheapest you can get, but like Moh Zee said, a quality generic cable is just as good.

The Internet is rife with reports of crappy third-party cables.  Having experienced some of these for myself (not only on Wii but also other platforms) I don't agree with either of you, but fine, spend your money as you like.  Smiley  I'm just saying, rather err on the side of caution.

It's not so much the actual components used in the construction of the cable, as the quality control at the manufacturing end which is sure to be much more thorough at Nintendo as opposed to a third-party accessory maker.  Some brands like Nyko, Logitech and Mad Catz have established themselves with products usually of a high quality, but not all third-party brands fall into this category.

If you are using a third-party cable and you don't notice any obvious visual artifacts then I would say you have nothing to worry about.

That is why we stated quality generic cables. I agree some are rubbish, but your 1st post made it sound like the Nintendo cables give a better picture, always.

Thing is, always buy quality in everything you buy Cheesy

Now, if you want to know what quality is, go and read Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance...awesome book!

The other day I bought the original Nintendo component cable from Musica for R199. Im very happy with the quality over composite as the flicker is now gone that interlaced signal gives.

Flux, with Component be sure to change the Wii's display setting to 480p if you're using a HDTV, or progressive scan-capable SDTV.
